Summer in Puerto Rico Means Festival Season

School is out and Summer is here. That means full weekends, busy plazas, and every town with something going on. In the West, summer brings the full mix; patron saint celebrations, beach events, food fairs, live music, artisan markets, and sports tournaments. 

Here are a few upcoming festivals and summer events happening around western Puerto Rico.

Bazaar Cabo Rojo: Celebrando a Papá | June 6 | Cabo Rojo 

Cabo Rojo kicks off the season with a Father’s Day themed artisan bazaar at the Plaza Artesanal Dr. Rolando Ortiz Medina. The event focuses on supporting local artisans and small businesses while offering families a relaxed afternoon of shopping, food, and community activities.

5to Festival de Bienvenida al Verano | June 7 | Isabela 

Isabela officially welcomes the season at Villa Pesquera with an afternoon of live music and family friendly entertainment. Performers include Manolo Lezcano, Jossie Esteban y La Patrulla 15, Fuera de Liga, and Bailoteo.

Fiestas Patronales de Isabela | June 10–14 

The Plaza Manuel Corchado y Juarbe once again becomes the center of activity for Isabela’s annual fiestas patronales. The celebration brings together live music, kiosks, rides, food vendors, and entertainment.

Festival del Mango | June 12–14 | Mayagüez 

Three days of food, music, artisan vendors, and family activities in the plaza. The festival lineup includes bomba, batucada, trovadores, workshops for kids, local gastronomy, and plenty of mango themed desserts and drinks.

Festival de Tunas | June 13 | Aguadilla 

The third edition of this outdoor music and culture event takes over El Parterre. It promises an evening centered around live music in the middle of downtown Aguadilla.

Torneo de Voleibol Playero  | June 23 | Aguada

Aguada hosts a beach volleyball tournament at Balneario Pico de Piedra, bringing players and spectators together for a full day by the water.

PLAYATÓN 2026 | June 26–28 | Añasco 

The Tres Hermanos Municipal Beach in Añasco becomes home to a weekend of sports and entertainment with volleyball, beach tennis, water games, a 5K race, live music, food vendors, and artisan booths.

Festival Nacional de la Hamaca | July 3–5 | San Sebastián 

Now in its 46th edition, San Sebastián’s Festival Nacional de la Hamaca remains one of the region’s best known cultural festivals. Organized by Casa Pepiniana de la Cultura, the event combines artisan displays, traditional food, rides, and live performances while highlighting Puerto Rican craftsmanship and cultural traditions.

Aguadilla BBQ Freedom Fest | July 4 | Aguadilla 

Chef Pitmaster Lucca will host the Aguadilla BBQ Freedom Fest on July 4 at Calle La Marina. The event features a BBQ competition with categories including ribs, steak, sliders, wings, and desserts. Teams will compete for cash prizes, while visitors can sample food and enjoy live entertainment throughout the day. 

3er Festival Aguada Sabe a Cacao | July 4–5 | Aguada 

Chocolate, local food, artisan vendors, and music take over the Ismael “Chavalillo” Delgado Coliseum during Aguada Sabe a Cacao. The festival highlights Puerto Rico’s cacao culture while offering activities and food experiences for all ages.

And this is just the beginning. Festival season is one of the easiest ways to experience Puerto Rico and keep the family entertained during the summer. Chances are, if you drive through any town on any weekend over the next few months, something is probably happening.
