Chef Oscar

Chef Oscar’s “Last Supper”

For Chef Oscar Muñiz, food is not just a profession—it’s a deep-seated passion that connects him to his roots. His career has taken him from New York to Atlanta and back to his hometown of Rincón. While many associate Chef Oscar with his Rincón restaurant, Taste Gastrobar, it is perhaps his Añasco criollo restaurant, Pa’l Cielo Fonda Glorificada, that truly captures his heart.

Despite his extensive experience in French, Italian, and Puerto Rican haute cuisine, Chef Oscar’s favorite meal remains arroz con gandules and bistec encebollado. When asked about his favorite thing to cook when he isn’t working, it took him less than five seconds to answer. “If I had to choose my last meal before I died, it would be arroz con gandules and bistec,” he said.

While everyone has their own recipe handed down through generations, we want to share Chef Oscar’s special recipe. Coming from someone with this much passion for the dish, we think it’s a must-try!
