Together in Pink: Rincón’s Plaza Stands in Solidarity
The Fight Against Breast Cancer in Puerto Rico: A Call for Solidarity
Breast cancer affects thousands of lives in Puerto Rico each year, leaving a deep mark on our community. The statistics are shocking: one in eight women will face this disease at some point in their lives. This reality reminds us of the importance of coming together, raising awareness, and supporting those fighting breast cancer. In honor of this cause and the people affected, The Rincón Plaza will be dressed in pink on Friday, November 1, in an emotional activity of solidarity and hope for all Puerto Ricans.
Community Commitment and Solidarity
It is heartwarming to see the response and commitment of our community. Local businesses have been overflowing with donations for the big raffle. At the same time, citizens and visitors have toured the participating establishments on a pink drink tour, a fun way to support this cause. Ghost Edits has provided beautiful photographs of the drinks and each moment shared, and Wela Transport has collaborated by transporting the team to the different points of the Pink Route, facilitating the coordination of every detail for this special event.
Invitation to the Rincón Plaza: Together in Solidarity
This Friday, the Mayagüez Medical Center Hospital will set up a tent in Rincón Plaza starting at 4:00 p.m., where attendees can receive guidance on breast cancer prevention. They will also offer referrals for mammograms to anyone interested in having this crucial exam. Dr. Laura Figueroa, a radiologist specializing in breast imaging, will be present to share her knowledge and answer questions, providing support and guidance in this awareness process.
Additionally, there will be a Fountain of Hope. This is a special space where you can write the names of survivors or loved ones affected by breast cancer. This simple and meaningful act will be a way to honor their memory and celebrate the resilience of those who have faced this battle.
Special Activities and Pink Route
The evening will be full of music and joy, with DJ Mouse and a live performance by TWINFIN, adding energy to this important activity. On our Pink Route, participating restaurants will donate $1 for every pink drink they sell, and those who purchase a drink will receive a raffle ticket for prizes generously donated by local businesses.
