Rincón in Solidarity

Together in Pink: Rincón’s Plaza Stands in Solidarity

Breast cancer affects thousands of lives in Puerto Rico each year, leaving a deep mark on our community. The statistics are shocking: one in eight women will face this disease at some point in their lives. This reality reminds us of the importance of coming together, raising awareness, and supporting those fighting breast cancer. In honor of this cause and the people affected, The Rincón Plaza will be dressed in pink on Friday, November 1, in an emotional activity of solidarity and hope for all Puerto Ricans.

This Friday, the Mayagüez Medical Center Hospital will set up a tent in Rincón Plaza starting at 4:00 p.m., where attendees can receive guidance on breast cancer prevention. They will also offer referrals for mammograms to anyone interested in having this crucial exam. Dr. Laura Figueroa, a radiologist specializing in breast imaging, will be present to share her knowledge and answer questions, providing support and guidance in this awareness process.

Additionally, there will be a Fountain of Hope. This is a special space where you can write the names of survivors or loved ones affected by breast cancer. This simple and meaningful act will be a way to honor their memory and celebrate the resilience of those who have faced this battle.

The evening will be full of music and joy, with DJ Mouse and a live performance by TWINFIN, adding energy to this important activity. On our Pink Route, participating restaurants will donate $1 for every pink drink they sell, and those who purchase a drink will receive a raffle ticket for prizes generously donated by local businesses.

Come and be part of this solidarity event. Let us honor those who are no longer with us and celebrate the strength of those who have fought and continue to fight. Your presence in the Rincón Plaza makes a difference. Together, we can help create a breast cancer-free future.
