Celebrating Rincón Beer Company’s 6th Anniversary with Flavor and Craft Beer
As part of Rincón Beer Company’s (RBC) sixth anniversary celebration, they hosted a traditional Puerto Rican lunch pairing each dish with the house’s craft beers. This event stood out for its excellent gastronomy and sensory experience, highlighting the quality and creativity of RBC’s beers.
Here’s a course-by-course journey to relive this unique event:
First Course: Pigeon Pea Soup with Green Banana Tips and Arañitas
Pairing: Sandy Blonde
The Sandy Blonde, RBC’s best-selling label throughout Puerto Rico, took center stage for this first course. This Blonde Ale-style beer (5.2% ABV) has captivated audiences with its freshness, subtle malty sweetness, and high carbonation. Perfect to pair with traditional dishes like asopao, its light and refreshing character shines on any occasion.
The name Sandy Blonde evokes the image of a blonde girl enjoying Sandy Beach, one of Rincón’s iconic beaches. This nod to the local beach culture has helped position it as an icon among Puerto Rican craft beers. Available in multiple spots across the island, it pairs perfectly with potato salad or any Christmas dish.
Second Course: Chorizo and Smoked Gouda Croquettes with Puerto Rican Tapenade
Pairing: Marejada
The Marejada, a Summer IPA created to capture Rincón’s eternal summer spirit, was the perfect complement for these croquettes. With a pioneering 12 oz format, this beer won over consumers, selling over 400 cases in its first weeks on the market.
Refreshing and moderately bitter, Marejada finds its inspiration in Secret Spot, a favorite surf beach in Isabela. This pairing stands out as an excellent choice for the holiday season, accompanying traditional dishes like cuajitos.
Third Course: Breaded Mahi-Mahi with Coleslaw and Spicy Mayo in a Flour Tortilla
Pairing: Bruma
Bruma is RBC’s latest project, designed to appeal to those venturing into craft beers. A light lager, fresh with subtle notes of corn and rice, it is ideal for those seeking simple yet well-executed flavors.
The illustration of Bruma represents a foggy morning at Playuela, a beach on the Aguadilla coast. This pairing with breaded dorado demonstrates how a beer can enhance the fresh flavors of the Caribbean. On a holiday table, guineítos en escabeche are a perfect accompaniment to this lager.
Fourth Course: Pigeon Pea Rice with Sweet Plantain Carpaccio, Pickled Onions, and Roasted Pork
Pairing: Overhead IPA
This robust dish found its ideal match in Overhead IPA, one of RBC’s most intense labels. With a 7.5% ABV and high hop content, this beer offers bitter notes and tropical fruit aromas, appealing to more seasoned palates.
Inspired by Isabela’s powerful dune waves, Overhead IPA is an explosion of flavor. During Christmas, it pairs perfectly with morcillas or traditional roast pork.
Dessert: Tart with Bonus Beer Filling and Roasted Pineapple
Pairing: Bonus
To end on a high note, the culinary team paired dessert with Bonus, a versatile beer that shines with spicy, savory, or citrus flavors. Its unique profile invites culinary creativity, making it an excellent choice for experimenting on the holiday table.
A Memorable Celebration
The anniversary lunch was a feast for the palate and a journey through the stories, flavors, and creativity that make Rincón Beer Company an emblematic craft brewery in Puerto Rico.
