Rincoeña Women Breaking Barriers: Empowerment and Community
It is essential to highlight community initiatives that make a difference during Women’s Month. Rincón, known for its beaches and tourist attractions, is also home to a movement that is transforming lives: Mujeres Rincoeñas Rompiendo Barreras (Rincoeña Women Breaking Barriers, in English).
A Movement for Change
This group was founded in 2021 in response to concerns about gender violence and femicide in society. With the support of the Municipality of Rincón, its mayor, and coordinator Isela Ruiz Feliciano, its mission is to provide comprehensive support to women and victims of gender violence. Through activities focused on entertainment, health, education, and training, they seek to empower women and build a more equitable and safe community.

A Community Initiative
What began as a summer camp in 2021 has grown into a network of over 100 women, organized into different groups based on their interests:
- Sirenas: Water activities such as swimming and aqua aerobics.
- Arañas Tejedoras: Knitting classes.
- Arañas Pintoras: Art classes.
- Damas Sastres: Sewing and garment making.

Activities and Workshops
Participants can access a wide variety of activities and workshops, including:
- Yoga, paddleboarding, kayaking, and eco-tourism hikes.
- Self-defense and empowerment workshops.
- Community bingo.
- Knitting, sewing, and art classes.
- Community projects with functional needs populations.
The activities take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Córcega Community Center, and the summer camp is held at the Balneario de Rincón.
