RBC’s Beer Olympics Returns to Rincón for its Fourth Year

There are beer festivals. There are competitions. And then there’s the Beer Olympics.

Rincón Beer Company’s flagship event returns to the Plaza Pública de Rincón on Saturday, October 10, for its fourth year. The annual event brings beer games, craft beer, music and plenty of competition to the plaza. Teams of two will take on five events, with registration open to participants 21 and over. Team registration is $80 and includes a shirt for each participant, beer, hydration and a food voucher.

The idea came about when RBC owner Jeremmie Vélez Rosario was working as a bartender in San Juan. He and some friends pitched it to the owner of the bar where they were working, but he wasn’t sold on the idea. The concept sat until Vélez Rosario took over the reins at Rincón Beer Company himself and had the chance to bring it to life.

What started as a much smaller event that coincided with Oktoberfest has evolved considerably. Four years in, it’s no longer a themed nod to a German tradition. It’s simply the RBC Beer Olympics: a uniquely boricua, uniquely Rincón celebration that has become the brewery’s annual ritual.

And while there are, naturally, beer games involved, this isn’t exactly a serious athletic competition. Old favorites are coming back, along with some new surprises. We’ve heard there will be dominoes this year, which is a pretty solid argument for calling this a uniquely Puerto Rican event.

The competition is only part of the day. Banda Skapulario will provide the live music, and Patinetero will be joining in on the fun as well. There will also be guest breweries, artisans, animation, local food and plenty of craft beer throughout the plaza. As always, Sin Plástico PR will be managing recycling and waste separation as part of RBC’s ongoing commitment to sustainability. Of course, none of this would happen without Nashaly Bonilla Candelaria, RBC’s Events Coordinator, working her magic behind the scenes.

And then there’s Jeremmie.

If you know him, you know he has a lot going on. He’s building a new brewery in Aguadilla, building a brand that takes RBC far beyond Rincón, and continuing to show up for the land and coastline he cares about.

But when we sat down with him, one thing was clear: he’s genuinely enjoying what he’s doing.

If you’ve been to the Beer Olympics before, you’ve probably seen that same energy in person.

Four years in, that might be what makes the event work. It’s competitive, but it’s not too serious. It’s about beer, but it’s also about the people, the music, and the community that shows up to the plaza to have a good time.

That sounds pretty Rincón to us.
